Home Learning
At Armathwaite School, we love learning—both in the classroom and at home! Home learning is all about building skills, curiosity, and confidence in a way that’s fun, meaningful, and just the right pace for each child. We believe that little and often is the key, so short, regular activities can make a big difference.
Reading for pleasure is at the heart of our home learning. We encourage children to read most nights and to talk about what they’ve read, sharing ideas and asking questions—it’s a great way to make reading enjoyable and exciting!
For our younger children, home learning focuses on practical and written tasks to help practice forming letters and expressing ideas on paper. Older children have access to Doodle Learning, giving them opportunities to explore subjects in a fun, interactive way.
We want children to become intrinsic learners - motivated from within, curious about the world, and eager to challenge themselves because learning is rewarding in itself. Homework doesn’t have to be done at home—it can be completed anywhere that inspires learning, whether that’s a favourite reading nook, the park, or even the top of Bowderstone!
By encouraging children to take ownership of their learning, we hope they develop confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.
