Consent

We’re really looking forward to all the exciting trips and visits we have planned!

To make things a little easier for families (and to save on parent admin!), we’re making a small change to our consent forms. For any trip or visit within a 15-mile radius of school, you won’t need to fill in a new consent form each time. When you completed your child’s emergency contact form at the start of the year, you already gave permission for local visits.

We’ll still let you know about all upcoming trips and events in plenty of time, along with details about what your child will need to bring or prepare and how we will be travelling.

If a trip is taking place more than 15 miles from school, we will of course send out a separate consent form for you to complete.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to get in touch.

Staffing

  • We are delighted to share that Miss Armstrong & Mrs Olsen will be welcoming babies in June and July this year. We are thrilled for them as they begin this special new chapter. Replacement staff will be in place during their maternity leave to ensure continuity for our students. Please join us in wishing them all the very best!
  • We have Chloe from UCC who will be coming in to do some work experience the week commencing Monday 2nd March, she will mainly be with the KS1 children.

Attendance

We are pleased to share that Armathwaite School has been recognised by the Local Authority for our excellent attendance this year. When compared with 21 other schools, our attendance stands out — and this achievement is thanks to you!

Toys/Sharing

We kindly request that children do not bring toys or special items to school, as these may become lost or damaged during the school day. We would not wish for any child to feel upset should a treasured item go missing.

As well as this instead of regular Monday 'Sharing' for Nursery & Reception, 'Drawing Club' is up and running in the Garden Room. Based around a blend of picture books, tales and animations, it involves a short period of time together as a whole class followed by time with children exploring their ideas and creations. 'Drawing Club' provides opportunity for exploration and growth in all the Areas of Learning and Development for the EYFS.

We will be saving 'Sharing' days (show and tell) for each first day back after the holidays. Photos (via Tapestry), or a memento of an experience, makes for the richest 'sharing'.

Uniform

A gentle reminder that as a school without a set uniform, we value the individuality this allows our children. At the same time, we kindly ask for your support in ensuring that children come to school dressed appropriately for a day of learning and play.

Clothing should be comfortable and practical for a busy school environment. We ask that children do not wear gaming-themed tops, jeans, fake nails or make-up. Our priority is that everyone feels comfortable, safe and ready to focus on their learning.

We would also really appreciate your help in making sure that all children — including those in Nursery — have a PE kit in school. Having their kit available not only ensures they can fully take part in lessons, but also helps them build confidence and independence when getting changed.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support!

A Huge Thank you!

A huge thank you to the parents who joined us on our Outdoor Learning day, bringing their wellies, wheelbarrows and muscles! We truly couldn’t have done it without your support. Days like this show what a strong and supportive school community we have.

Fundraising

Good Luck, Rosie!

We are incredibly proud to share that Rosie, one of our Reception parents, will be running an upcoming marathon to raise money for both our school and the Alzheimer’s Society.

She has set a stretch target of £3,500. Funds raised will support new reading books and library resources. If £1,000 or more is raised, we will also be able to expand our musical instrument collection, including African drums. If the full £3,500 target is reached, this will go towards installing tree nets in our outdoor learning area. Any additional funds will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.

If you are able to, please consider donating via her Justgiving page — every contribution, big or small, will make a difference.

Click here to visit the just giving page!

Rosie, we wish you the very best of luck with your training and on race day. We can’t wait to hear all about it — we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!

Thank you, Rosie, for your dedication and generosity.
