We are very excited to share some wonderful news from our school grounds — frog spawn has been discovered in our pond!
During a recent check of the pond, pupils and staff spotted clusters of jelly-like blobs floating near the water’s surface. This is frog spawn, and it means that frogs have chosen our pond as a safe place to lay their eggs. Over the next few weeks, these tiny eggs will begin an amazing transformation, developing into tadpoles and eventually into frogs.
This discovery is a fantastic sign that our pond is a healthy habitat and is supporting local wildlife. It also gives us a brilliant opportunity to learn more about life cycles, habitats, and how we can care for nature right here at school.
To help protect the frog spawn, we are reminding everyone to look carefully but not touch. Frog spawn is very delicate, and it’s important that it is left undisturbed so the tadpoles can develop safely.
We will be keeping an eye on the pond and sharing updates as the tadpoles grow. What an exciting way to welcome the signs of spring!
