We’re so excited to welcome everyone back and can't wait for another fantastic year at Armathwaite.
New to Reception
We’re delighted to invite all Reception parents to a special session led by Miss Price on “Starting Reception”.
This session will share valuable information to help you and your child settle smoothly into this exciting new stage. It’s a great opportunity to hear what to expect, ask questions, and feel fully prepared for the year ahead. It will be Tuesday 8th September at 3:30pm and we encourage all Reception parents to attend.
Stay & Play for current Nursery and Reception parents: 8:30am- 9:30am 15th Sept (Literacy activities)
Reception Parent Workshop - Supporting Early Reading & Writing 13th October 3:30pm
Swimming
We are thrilled to be heading to Woggle Goggle again this year for a block of weekly lessons. The younger children will go in Autumn 1 and the older children will go in Autumn 2.
Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will take part on Wednesdays, starting 16th September. All children will travel together by bus and spend the morning session there. When they’re not in the pool, they’ll continue their learning in one of the classroom areas at Woggle Goggle with their teachers. Please fill out a questionaire for your child here

After school club
If your child will be attending our After-School Club or Wraparound Care (until 5.00pm), please remember to book their place in advance. This helps us ensure we have the correct staffing and resources in place.
The pick-up point for both 4.30pm collection and Wraparound Care until 5.00pm will now be the field door.
Free School Meals
From September 2026, all children in households receiving Universal Credit are eligible for Free School Meals, regardless of household income.
You still need to apply — eligibility is not automatic. Even if your child already receives Universal Infant Free School Meals in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, applying can unlock additional support such as clothing grants and our free after-school club.
Apply through Westmorland and Furness Council:
- Online: Free School Meals & Clothing Vouchers page
- Phone: 0300 373 3300 (Option 2)
- Email: FSM.ClothingGrants@westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk
- In person: Your local Family Hub
If you think you may be eligible, please apply — it could provide valuable support for your family.
If you need any support or guidance please get in touch with Mrs Connall in the School office.

Safeguarding Update – Sharing Images & AI
As part of recent Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) updates, we are reminding everyone to take extra care when posting, sharing or storing images of children online.
With the increasing use of AI, images shared online can potentially be copied, altered or used in ways we cannot control. Please think carefully about what you post, where you post it and who can access it.
We use Tapestry in Nursery-Year 1, which is a secure platform for sharing children's learning with parents and carers. However, we still ask families to be mindful about downloading, saving or sharing photographs and videos from Tapestry elsewhere.
Thank you for helping us to keep our children safe online.
